FlexThread Self-Locking Plugs FlexThread™ was created to fill the need for a high temperature, highly reusable self-locking plug that could be used as a direct replacement for standard lockwired plugs such as MS9902, MS9954, MS24391, and special OEM plugs. FlexThread™ plugs require no modification to system hardware and they are used in over 2000 aircraft worldwide.
The FlexThread™ design consists of a floating, spring loaded locking element incorporated into the standard threadform. This unique highly flexible configuration controls and distributes the axial frictional forces much more precisely than conventional deformed threads. FlexThread™ delivers reusability up to 10 X more than conventional designs, assures consistent torque cycle-to-cycle, and virtually eliminates wear of the mating thread.
