Our initial Click-Loc™ fluid fitting design was integral as the tube coupling nuts were one piece detail parts with the detents being machined features. The lockrings were separately manufactured but installed permanently on the male coupling by welding or brazing. However, it soon became apparent that the lockring could be retained semi-permanently with a tight interference fit and the cost of welding/brazing was eliminated. The integrally machined configuration is appropriate when the coupling nuts are already produced from suitably tough material and/or when they are a permanent part of a next higher level assembly. This integral configuration should be incorporated during the initial development phase.
